Welcome to the Susan Day Ceramics blog. I will post details of forthcoming exhibitions and events to this blog as information becomes available. You can see some pictures of my work on my main website and you can also contact me there.
I will be taking part in Art on the Street this Saturday. You will find me and the other ceramists in the old Waterstone’s unit in the Nicolson’s Centre which just happens to be where the Happy Cakes Vintage Cafe will be. What could be better than a slice of yummy cake and a cup of tea while viewing the ceramics. If you have never tasted their lemon drizzle cake now is your chance.
This weekend I will be at Sally Evans Artists’ and Makers’ Fair in the Glass House at Waddesdon Plant Centre, Queen Street, Waddesdon, HP18 0JW. I will have new collage vessels and lamps on display and I will be be making clay collages. Open Saturday 5th May and Sunday 6th May 10.30am to 4.30pm. Hope to see you there.
During Open Studios I will be working on a new project and demonstrating my making techniques. I hope to complete a group of pieces inspired by the local landscape. I’d love to see you and will be happy to any questions about my work.
I will be at the Courtyard Gallery 11am – 4pm most days and I will be posting more details later. You can, of course, see the work during the normal Gallery opening hours of 10am – 5pm Tuesday to Saturday and 11am – 4pm Sunday.
New work on display will include jewellery combining porcelain glass and silver, multimedia work with willow and porcelain, and some new designs for tea lights and lamps.
If you would like to have a go I’m holding a taster session on Saturday 25th. You will make a tea light holder or vase from porcelain paper clay using some of my favourite techniques. The cost is £20 to cover materials, firings and optional glazing. This will be a small group so booking is essential. Call the Courtyard Gallery on 0785 478 7733 to reserve your place or for more information.
